A Family's Story...

Blue Lagoon resort started as the dream of Ma'ata and Feleti to build something as a family, offering guests a place to take in the best that Vava'u has to offer. We are proud to be Tongan family built, owned, and operated since welcoming our first guests back in 2000. It all started with the first Blue Lagoon Restaurant and guest fales (houses), everything built and maintained by Feleti & Maata along with their 4 children. From the wharf, to the guest accommodation, to the tables in the restaurant; all designed and built by the family's hands. Beginning with the well respected restaurant and accommodations, later in 2008 the family was able to get our boats and begin offering our own whale swimming experiences as well. Since then Blue Lagoon has operated as a full service, all-inclusive destination for guests visiting Tonga to experience island life and whale swimming. 

Today, not only is Blue Lagoon known for its idyllic location and beautiful resort, but the restaurant is known throughout Vava'u for the amazing cuisine! A tradition deeply rooted in the family, beginning with Feleti who was a passionate chef. Today his sons, learning from him, carry on the tradition of great food. Catering to our resort guests as well as dinner guests and serving dinner each evening in 3 courses, the food here is always a guest favorite. 

As the only inhabitants of Foe'ata island, our guests have the entire island to really relax and enjoy their holiday experience. There is so much to take in. From the beautiful guest fales and their verandas, to the beautiful whales and water. You have the freedom of exploring the island, relaxing on one of our white sand beaches, going for a snorkel, a paddle board, or a kayak. You can even visit the uninhabited island next door if you fancy an island walk!

Since establishing Blue Lagoon, the family has proudly built and maintained a reputation for offering visitors an amazing guest experience along with a restaurant that is one of the best in Vava'u. And all of this in a family-friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere. After all, you are our family's personal guests!
